The Project in Detail

The SilverCross Project

An EU-funded CRAFT project (005901)

Full colour holography is unquestionably the most perfect imaging technology known to science: the images it produces are almost indistinguishable from the original scene.  Developments in other technologies have created many applications for full-colour holograms but these new market areas are unexploited due to the lack of a suitable recording material.

SilverCross aims to solve this problem by developing a new nanoparticle (5-10nm), high sensitivity (<2mJ cm-2) low light-scattering, panchromatic silver halide emulsion which may be used for high quality imaging recording techniques, including full colour holograms and HOEs.
